Where did all my friends go? 🤔

Hello Reader,

Can we talk about something nobody prepares you for? Somewhere around your 40s, the “built-in” friendships — the coworkers, the other parents at pickup, the people you saw just by showing up to your life — start to thin out. And nobody hands you a replacement.

It’s not that you got worse at friendship. The structure that used to build it for you just disappeared.

The good news: rebuilding your circle after 40 doesn’t require starting from zero, and it doesn’t require becoming a different, more “extroverted” version of yourself. It just requires a little intention.

Here’s what’s actually worked for me and for the women I coach:

  1. Look for interest-based groups, not just proximity-based ones. A class, a club, a cause — anything built around a shared interest does a lot of the connection-building for you automatically. You already have something in common before you even say hello.
  2. Find communities built for exactly where you are in life. A general hobby group is fine, but a space built specifically for “women 40+ navigating reinvention” does more heavy lifting, because everyone in the room already gets the context — no explaining required.
  3. Show up to the same room more than once. Real friendships rarely come from one great conversation. They come from repetition — the same class, the same group, the same Zoom room, week after week, until “that woman I met once” becomes “my friend.”
  4. Be the one who reaches out first. Someone has to send the “coffee Thursday?” text. It might as well be you — everyone else is waiting for the same invitation you are.

I found my people in rooms like the Radiant & Reinvented: Women Thriving After 40! community and Empowered Connections Salons — spaces built specifically for women figuring out this next chapter.

P.S. Last week I asked if you'd be interested in a new Empowered Connections group — the response has me genuinely fired up. If you haven't replied yet, "I need this!" still works. 💛

Hello Reader, Quick catch-up if you missed my last email: men run on a tidy 24-hour hormonal cycle. That’s why the world built a 9-to-5 and called it “normal.” We run on a 4-week cycle with four completely different chapters — honestly, ours is the more impressive system. Same-day rerun versus an actual story with four acts. It’s just not built for showing up identical every single Tuesday. (If consistency advice never quite worked for you, now you know who it was written for.) Okay, here’s...

Hello Reader, Quick question: ever feel sharp, confident, unstoppable one week then two weeks later you can't find a clear thought in your own head? If you've ever quietly wondered what's wrong with you...nothing is. That's not a flaw. That's a brilliant design. As I worked with my clients, went through my own experiences, and dug into the research, the same words kept coming up: hormones, blood sugar, insulin, food. So I went back to school and became a Certified Metabolic Health Coach....

Hello Reader, Last week we passed the fall equinox, one of just two days a year when day and night are nearly equal. I love that nature hands us a built-in reminder to pause and ask: What's in balance in my life right now? And what's asking for a little more attention? As the days get shorter, it's the perfect season to tune in to your energy, your body, your brain, and your next chapter. That's exactly what my October events are all about. 🍁 🎙️ MILLION WOMEN RISING WISDOM EXCHANGE® | Oct 1–2...
