Hello Reader, BOO! 👻 Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you were there? Woken up at 3:17 AM, wide awake and ready to solve problems that don't actually exist? Or looked down at your belly and wondered who moved in without asking permission? Welcome to the haunted house of midlife! 🎃 Between the brain fog, disappearing sleep, mysterious cravings, and a metabolism that seems to have changed the locks, being a woman over 40 can feel like someone cast a spell on your body. But here's the real trick: We've been taught to fear these changes instead of understanding them. And as a Metabolic Health Coach, I'm on a mission to change that. 🧙♀️ Meet the monsters of midlife👻 The Ghost of Brain Fog You know the one. She steals your words, hides your keys, and makes you wonder whether your brain has gone on vacation. Here's the truth: Changing estrogen levels, sleep disruptions, and stress can all affect memory and concentration during the menopause transition. Your brain isn't necessarily failing you. It's adapting. 🧛♀️ The Blood Sugar Vampire One minute you're feeling fabulous. The next, you're exhausted, hangry, and eyeing the leftover Halloween candy. As we age, changes in muscle mass, sleep, and hormones can influence insulin sensitivity and how our bodies manage glucose. The good news? Protein, fiber, strength training, and a little movement after meals can help support healthy blood sugar. And no, you don't have to banish carbohydrates to the dungeon. 🧙♀️ The Wicked Witch of Cortisol Let's clear something up. Cortisol is NOT the villain it's made out to be. We actually need this hormone to regulate our stress response, energy, and blood sugar. But chronic stress can interfere with sleep, appetite, and metabolic health. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for your health isn't adding another task to your list. It's taking something OFF. Imagine that! Permission to do less. Someone alert the flying monkeys. 😂 💀 The Skeleton in Your Closet Here's a scary fact worth knowing: We naturally lose muscle as we age unless we take steps to preserve it. Why does that matter? Muscle helps our bodies use glucose, supports our metabolism, and keeps us strong and independent. You don't have to become a bodybuilder. But picking up a few weights might be one of the best treats you give your future self. 🎃 So what's the secret potion?I wish I could tell you there's a magic spell, a special supplement, or a mysterious midnight ritual that fixes everything. There isn't. But there ARE things we can do to support our changing bodies. ✨ Build and maintain muscle. ✨ Prioritize sleep and recovery. ✨ Eat nourishing foods that support stable energy. ✨ Manage stress without adding more stress about managing stress. ✨ Learn how your hormones and metabolism work together. And perhaps most importantly? Stop treating your body like the enemy. I've learned that understanding what's happening in our bodies can be incredibly empowering. Especially when we've spent decades being told to eat less, move more, and just try harder. We deserve better information than that. 🍬 Here's your Halloween treatThis week, I'm sharing a little Halloween fun on my social pages, along with some real science about women's metabolic health. No scare tactics. No guilt. No impossible rules. Just useful information, a few laughs, and encouragement to take care of the amazing body that's carried you this far. And I'd love to hear from you: If you could wave a magic wand and make ONE frustrating midlife symptom disappear, what would it be? Brain fog? Poor sleep? Stubborn weight changes? Low energy? Something else? Hit reply and tell me. I read your responses, and they help me understand what women like us really want to know. Because the next chapter of your health doesn't have to be a horror story. It can be one of the best chapters yet. Bubbles Up! P.S. Hello Reader, It was one of those perfect fall days, crisp air and golden leaves, and the café I stepped into was buzzing. Nearly every table was filled with women. Laughing, leaning in, talking with their hands. And then I noticed the two women near the window. One of them was talking softly, and I could see tears starting to form in her eyes. Her friend didn't interrupt or rush to fix it. She just leaned forward and took her hand. That was it. And it was everything. I carried that moment...
Hello Reader, Quick catch-up if you missed my last email: men run on a tidy 24-hour hormonal cycle. That’s why the world built a 9-to-5 and called it “normal.” We run on a 4-week cycle with four completely different chapters — honestly, ours is the more impressive system. Same-day rerun versus an actual story with four acts. It’s just not built for showing up identical every single Tuesday. (If consistency advice never quite worked for you, now you know who it was written for.) Okay, here’s...
Hello Reader, Quick question: ever feel sharp, confident, unstoppable one week then two weeks later you can't find a clear thought in your own head? If you've ever quietly wondered what's wrong with you...nothing is. That's not a flaw. That's a brilliant design. As I worked with my clients, went through my own experiences, and dug into the research, the same words kept coming up: hormones, blood sugar, insulin, food. So I went back to school and became a Certified Metabolic Health Coach....
